ICIRO Collaboration: Training Future Oral Surgeons

This year, we once again participated in an ICIRO collaboration with the postgraduate program in Implantology and Oral Surgery at the University of La Coruña. These recurring academic partnerships are a key part of our educational mission, connecting theoretical learning with surgical practice.
Hands-On Implantology and Bone Grafting Education
The module was structured into two core components. In the morning, we led a comprehensive theory session, covering key topics such as:
-
Bone regeneration strategies
-
Soft tissue management in oral surgery
-
Clinical decision-making and treatment sequencing
In the afternoon, students moved into practical application. Using animal models, they practiced surgical techniques including tunnel access, free gingival grafting, and bone block positioning. These exercises allowed them to consolidate the morning’s knowledge in a real-life surgical simulation.
Supporting Future Oral Surgeons Through ICIRO Collaboration
This ICIRO collaboration reflects our commitment to preparing the next generation of clinicians. By offering structured, hands-on experiences, we help students develop technical skills and confidence before treating patients.
We are grateful to Gt-Medical, ICIRO, and every student for their energy and participation. Their engagement made the day a true success.

Why Continuous Surgical Education Matters
Collaboration between clinical educators and universities strengthens postgraduate education. It ensures that future implantologists are equipped not just with theory, but with technique, judgement, and responsibility.
