Today we are going to talk about the Kazanjian Vestibuloplasty.

Origin of Kazanjian Vestibuloplasty

Kazanjian vestibuloplasty is a technique that is over 100 years old, developed by Varaztad Kazanjian.

This technique is developed for those patients which the full prosthesis is already moving and does not have any fixation.

The original technique of Kazanjian consists in the elimination of the muscular layer that is situated between the mucosal layer and the periosteum in the alveolar mucosa.

The Kazanjian technique has been used again today due to the dental implants.

Clinical case

This patient came to us with an implant placed in position 36 by another colleague requiring us to place an implant in position 34 in order to be able to place a bridge over implants 34-35-36.

We observed poor quality of soft tissues, mandatory for the survival of the implants in the long term.

For this reason, rather than performing a crestal incision access, we enabled placement of the implant with modified Kazanjian vestibuloplasty access.

This enabled us to place the implant, gain adhered gum and vestibular depth at the same time, avoiding the patient having to have treatment in the future to improve soft tissue.

You can view photographs of the surgery and also postoperative at 10 days.
